Murray Avenue Restaurant Challenge: Pacific Ring

Achievement: #2. Eat at every restaurant on Murray Ave

So, if you’re going out for a night of dancing, the only logical thing to have for dinner would be… sushi, right? No? Maybe a light salad, or a skinless grilled chicken, you’re saying? No really, trust me, it’s sushi. 🙂

We were headed out to dance it off at Title Town later in the evening, so we hit up our next Murray Ave restaurant for dinner beforehand. We went to Pacific Ring, which we knew had dim sum, but we did not know had sushi. As soon as we made this discovery, the answer was clear: it was a sushi dinner kind of night!

We started with crab rangoons, which were melt-in-your-mouth delicious.

Then our sushi plate arrived. Oh was it good! We got some normal things: that’s shrimp tempura in the lower right-hand corner, and Alaskan rolls (salmon and avocado) in the top right. The bottom left is a spicy crab roll. But what’s most important is the top left section: that is the otherworldly Pacific Ring Pittsburgh Roll. It contains salmon, yellowtail, tuna, cream cheese, avocado, and tobiko (the little orange fish egg-y things), and is deep fried and drizzled with spicy eel sauce. We never thought sushi could be so unhealthy, but man oh man was it fantastically yummy.

Michael was ready to use that whole bottle of soy sauce by the time we finished those Pittsburgh rolls!

And here I am, ready to dig in to my side of the plate! We will definitely be returning to this place for sushi again (they have an all-you-can-eat sushi special on the weekends, and we also learned they often have printable coupons online whee!).
